What is Bedford Theatre Community?

The Bedford Theatre Community is an artistic group that strives for theatrical and educational excellence.  The philosophy honors the old adage that “It Takes a Village” which we all know suggests that it takes the cooperative effort of many community members to achieve a significant task.  With that said, BTC consists of many community members including student performers & student mentors; a creative staff of artistic directors, music directors, choreographers and parent producers; technical experts such as lighting designers, set designers, and sound technicians; business partners who advertise with us; school community members who help out in so many different ways; and our parent partners who undauntingly take on any task to ensure the success of the program. BTC offers students the opportunity to explore all aspects of theater. Cast members can act, sing, and dance and explore leadership opportunities, while crew members gain hands-on experience with props, costumes, elements of set construction, running crew, assisting with lighting and sound, and more. BTC’s fall and spring productions welcome every student who wishes to join—whether they are looking to casually explore theater or they are passionate performers aiming for lead roles. With its high participation rate, BTC provides a fun and inclusive environment for students of all experience levels. The vision is to build a community, a family of sorts, that supports each other through the challenges of show production and celebrates each other’s success.
